Ryan (we are now on a first name basis) now tells a guy off who’s cycling on the sidewalk instead of on the street !

“No, no, you’re not going to ride away from this. Now just get off the sidewalk okay? You’re a grown man, do the right thing.”

Seriously Ryan will you just stop?? I don’t think he fully understands how his actions may impact the rest of the male race at this point.

Even though the weather is getting warmer, lately I have been swapping the pastels and bright colors for black and white outfits, which can look just as clean and crisp as any summer dress.

Okay I'm back (I promise)

I am back from a much needed mental vacation.

Although I didn’t actually physically go anywhere..

My mind was going 31,476,398,163 miles an hour(to be exact) and then it just suddenly came to a halt. Nothing worked, no ideas were coming to me, no witty talk-backs, nothing. Which led to a whole lotta lack of motivation.

I didn’t necessarily stop working, but I stopped working in the manner I always had - which was to work with a dream oriented goal in mind, and not so much money driven.

And to be even more honest with you guys, I did make money this month. Probably one of my top more financially successful months I’ve had in a long time (although I think having 3 jobs might have something to do with it). Which only further confused my mind even more, because I made money while being unmotivated and creatively brain dead (not a good look for an artist/designer). And although money-driven can be a good thing to an extent, I don’t actually feel good working that way.

Not to mention that I was overwhelmed by technology. And let me tell you, I am NEVER overwhelmed by technology. I love technology. If I could, I’d marry it and give birth to more baby technologies…

But between the blogging, the Facebooking, the Twittering, the Instagraming, the Lookbooking, the Polyvoring, the emailing, the Photoshopping, the being on my iPhone and iPad every single day, from sunrise till way way past sunset, I was ready to explode; To the point that if robots existed, I’m SURE I would’ve ~~killed~~ retiliated against one.

I was looking at trees and fields of grass like it was a bottle of water smack in the middle of the desert. Camping would’ve been THE perfect remedy to all of this, but it just seemed impossible to get it to happen for some reason.

The one thing that did help in resetting my mind, was my friends. I was so busy, that texting was pretty much the only way I was communicating with them, and cracking jokes via text and facebook just isn’t as funny. I’d almost forgotten how great sitting down to talk over some chicken wings and beer was, or just stopping by someone’s apartment just to say hi, or getting silly trying to fit my ~~fat butt~~ ”curves” on a child’s swing just so my friend can laugh. I even went to a drive-in movie in the middle of nowhere instead of watching it on my iPad(woahhh).

Fast forward almost a month of all this internal anxiety and extreme confusion, my eyes are still twitching a bit, and my inner tree hugger is still begging for some peace and quiet. But the recent quality time spent has helped me realize that even though the world doesn’t stop for you to catch your breath, sometimes you just gotta say F-you and do it anyways.

Here’s the thing… I am in no way shape or form, the only “fashion blog” on the Internet, I am one of many. However a vast majority of them have posts of extremely beautiful clothing that are extremely financially unattainable for say… 98% of the world.

With that said I am 26 years old and I have a crap load of school loans that will take me the next 10 years to pay off. As a result, I have fully developed a phobia for loans and not to mention that credit cards make me cringe. Because of that, I refuse to buy things I can’t pay for right there on the spot.

Which makes shopping a bit…tricky.

Sure I could buy a pair of Isabel Marant’s wedge sneakers for $400, but then Sallie Mae would be really pissed off that I just spent half of “her” monthly payment on sneakers.

Going back to my original point… I am not the only fashion blog on the Internet, I am one of many. But I am also one of many people who opt out of blowing their paychecks on lavish clothing items (although I am not saying that the clothing themselves are not worth it) and go on more financially conscious shopping sprees instead.

But being financially conscious of your spending does not mean you have to sacrifice style. It’s actually a bit more fun to find creative ways of finding affordable yet stylish items (hence the immensely popular world of DIY!). So swapping a $100 Alexander Wang tee for a more affordable $25 H&M tee will give you some more spending room to get that really sick pair of heels you wanted.

It’s really a no brainer and a lot of us do it, yet for some reason the majority of fashion blogs still post items that are $100 and way WAY over.

But forget them..

Jessica’s Boy-meets-Girl outfit photos have been popping up everywhere ! Which is fine by me because I really loved it (actually I’m digging all of her outfits recently. She showed the Instagram world her take on the Japanese Harajuko style and it was super cute!).

But I especially loved her pants which is a printed skinny leg pants from Topshop (PS it has a 5% elastane which means my uh “curves” might actually be able to fit in them WOOP WOOP).

Nicole Richie: “Everybody Should Wear Headpieces!”

Well, I am not sure that everybody should wear a headpiece (for some reason a bedazzled headpiece on say..a 70 year old grandmother might not fly…or maybe it could be totaly adorable. what do i know). But all of that aside, considering I have done a LV inspired headpiece DIY before, I more than agree with Nicole.

They’re whimsical and great way to dress up an otherwise simple outfit.

Hey guys

I wanted to take this opportunity to give you guys an update on my personal life..

I AM PREGNANT AND EXPECTING TRIPLETS

Haaaa just kidding

No really I’m kidding, I’m not pregnant.

On a serious note (not that triplets aren’t serious ? nevermind), I wanted to apologize for the scarce posts this week. I’ve actually taken on too many projects (shocker), bit more than I could chew and now I’m having a hard time swallowing.

One project consists of me partnering up with my mother on her export business. She sells [adorable] baby clothes to women in Brazil and I am now pulling looks and selling adult clothes along with her. (She was doing so well that I practically begged her to quit her day job of which she did).

I was explaining to a friend today, that selling to these girls is not the same buy/sell approach of say eBay or Etsy. It’s like an online community and the clients almost demand in having a relationship with their sellers. For the most part, there is a lot of chatting, a lot of catching up and then you finally talk business and exchange payments/merchandise. SO you can imagine where a good chunk of mine has gone this week !

But on a another note, DirtyLace.com is still very much my baby and top priority. And I have some exciting projects coming up for it ! (Which includes a super cute/awesome DIY for mother’s day)

Another project is that a dear friend of mine is traveling to Italy (let’s take a moment to be intensely jealous of her…..aaannd done) and has asked me to be her “JetSet Stylist” - which I love not only the unofficial title, but of course the ability to style someone for a long trip to ITALY ! So you can expect a lot of photos documenting this project :)

In the meantime, SOMETHING TO TRY THIS WEEKEND : ANYTHING NEW

Let’s forget fashion for a second…In light of this post and recent events, there’s a lot of “new” in my life. And new is good! New makes you see the old in a new light. When reevaluating the old, it helps you decide if it’s something you want to keep or replace for the new.

And by all means take this literally (like new workout clothes to help re-motivate you in staying healthy) or figuratively (like a new mental state to help you tackle an issue with a new perspective). And make it big or small ! Whether it’s something small like trying an Irish Carbomb (which I SO planned to do as this week’s post) or something big like changing your career path.

NEW IS GOOD.
